In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,75,255 registered voters, of which 1,42,734 were male, 1,32,517 female and 4 from the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,53,318 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,34,154 were male and 1,19,163 female. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 2,33,004 which included 1,23,541 male and 1,09,463 female voters.

Assembly constituency no.42. Achalpur comprises of the following areas of Amravati district in the Vidharbha region of Maharashtra: Chandurbazar Tehsil, Achalpur Tehsil (Part), Revenue Circle-Shirajgaon Kasba, Achalpur and Achalpur (MC).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 802.47 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sabalagadh is: 21°15'48.6"N 77°39'02.2"E.

A total of four Assembly constituencies in the state of Maharashtra share borders with Achalpur constituency, which are: Melghat, Morshi, Teosa, Daryapur. This constituency shares an inter-state border with Betul district of Madhya Pradesh.

Voter turnout

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the estimated voter turnout in this Maharashtra constituency was 71.14%. In 2019, this seat registered a turnout of 69.7%, while it was 70.85% in 2014 and 65.13% in 2009. The estimated turnout in 2024 was -1.44% compared to the 2019 turnout.

In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Bachchu Babarao Kadu of PHJSP won in this constituency beating Aniruddha Alias Bablubhau Subhanrao Deshmukh of INC by a margin of 8,231 votes which was 04.45% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Bacchu Alias Omprakash Babarao Kadu of IND was the winner in this seat beating Ashok Shridharpant Bansod of BJP by a margin of 10,170 votes which was 5.67% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Bacchu Alias Omprakash Babarao Kadu of IND won this seat defeating Deshmukh Wasudhatai Pundlik of INC by a margin of 5,743 votes which was 3.78% of the total votes polled for the seat.
