In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Mahboob Alam of CPIMLL won in this constituency beating Barun Kumar Jha of VIP by a margin of 53597 votes which was 26.22% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Mahboob Alam of CPIMLL was the winner in this seat beating Barun Kumar Jha of BJP by a margin of 20419 votes which was 10.35% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Dulal Chandra Goshwami of IND won this seat defeating of CPIMLL by a margin of 2704 votes which was 1.84% of the total votes polled for the seat.
